The Camas-Washougal Community Chest was established in 1946 when a group of concerned citizens formed to coordinate fundraising for local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations involved with education, youth education, aiding those with special needs, natural resource conservation, health and welfare, crisis and emergency services, and other charitable and civic endeavors. All recipients of Community Chest funding must provide services within the Camas-Washougal area. Each year we award grants to local non-profits delivering services, exclusively, to children and families in Camas and Washougal. Grants fund services such as emergency food assistance, aid to families in crisis or needing emergency services, safe temporary shelter for at-risk youth, summer camp for foster kids, and helping pets stay healthy and together with their families in difficult times. In addition, monies have been reserved for up to $500 per mini-grant application from local Boy and Cub Scout troops. Since 1946, the Community Chest has been all about local people helping local people.
